Antonis Rapanis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1990. Since the very early years, and while he started having a better understanding for the world around him, he was attracted to arts, hence he was in search for ways to capture his imagination. To do that so, he began to record and capture his environment in such an artistic way by creating drawings and sketches, as well as small sculptures and constructions, building up this way, micro worlds which among other elements, were consisted of little habits and experiences, already familiar to him. Since then, and upon completing his studies in the department of Literature University of Crete, his creative concerns along with his exploratory (or curious) nature, led him to engage and dedicate himself more into the arts. In 2016, he was admitted to the Department of Visual and Applied Arts at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. Since then, he has been effortlessly focusing on the implementation of new projects and art creations. His art work can be found in private collections in Greece and abroad, while he participates in visual training programs in the private sector.

His work often incorporates impressions from a wide range of political, cultural, and socio-economic phenomena. Furthermore, includes sculptures, installations and series of paper projects such as drawings, collages and modified photos.

These installations and sculptures mainly consist of “found objects’’ which have no functionality, use and structure wise. Elements such irony, humor and shabbiness/decay can be witnessed in all of his art work. What matters the most for his work is not the actual value of each piece of the art created, but the value of the idea, which through rebirth and reformation of use, restores their lost glory. A lost value which moves from a daily routine and disintegrating reality, to a visual and imaginary reality.
